Green Party of Los Angeles County endorses Jose Lara for re-election to El Rancho School District in Pico Rivera

The Green Party of Los Angeles County endorses incumbent Green Jose Lara for re-election to the El Rancho Unified School District Board of Trustees in Pico Rivera.

To Jose Lara, 'social justice is a verb.' An ethnic studies champion, Jose received the Social Justice Activist Award from the National Education Association in 2015 for his work in educational justice as a social studies teacher at Santee High School in Los Angeles.

On the El Rancho Unified School Board since 2013, Jose has promoted justice and opportunity:

• Advocating for services for students with challenges and special needs
• Increased funding for Arts and Music programs
• Opened new innovation and science labs
• Built first Magnet High School and Magnet Middle School in the District

Jose also has a Green Vision for local schools - providing each with a community garden, solar panels and establishing a district wide recycling program.
